Eavie Hone.

(1894-1955)

Evie Hone studied painting in Paris, after a spell in an Anglican convent in 1935 she joined the An Tur Gloine 'The Tower of Glass' studio, and converted to Catholicism two years later.

Throughout her life she was plagued by ill health, despite this she continued to produce works most of which had a religious theme.

Her greatest work is probably the eighteen light window The Crucifixion and Last Supper for Eton College in Windsor produced between 1949 and 1952. The preparatory study of which is illustrated left and preserved in the National Gallery of Ireland.
