Abbeyfield Farm  

Abbeyfield Farm is one mile from Clane and 17 miles from Dublin. Set on over 200 acres of picturesque Kildare countryside we offer horse riding, clay pigeon shooting and archery. With over 50 horses to choose from we cater for all ages and standards.

With experienced friendly guides we hope to give you an enjoyable afternoon in the saddle. For the shooting enthusiast we offer clay pigeon shooting with 5 traps which offer 12 different configurations. We will introduce the first timer and challenge the experienced wit expert tuition included. Groups of 20+ catered for.

It is dominated by the well preserved 16th century White’s Castle, a rectangular turreted tower that sits imposingly by the bridge over the river Barrow in the heart of the town, built to protect the inhabitants.

Athy is a designated HERITAGE TOWN OF IRELAND and the Heritage Center focuses on the history of Athy and the surrounding area.

Martinstown House  

Martinstown is a charming Strawberry Hill gothic style cottage ornée, just south east of the Curragh in County Kildare, the centre of Ireland’s bloodstock industry and home to the country’s premier race courses.

The house was built in the 1830s as a shooting and hunting lodge by the Borrowes family and, along with the lodges to Dublin’s Phoenix Park, is the only known Irish oeuvre of the distinguished English architect, Decimus Burton.

Martinstown House is situated in its own miniature park, with many fine old trees enclosed by stone walls giving a sense of privacy and exclusivity to your stay. The rooms all have views over the park and farm lands, and have private bathrooms. The whole house is beautifully decorated with an informal elegance.which gives it a particularly welcoming atmosphere. Outside there is a well-maintained walled garden, a croquet lawn and an icehouse, and there are cattle, sheep, a donkey (called Clancy), and a flock of extremely free-range hens.

The owners, the Booth family, are accomplished hosts who insist on the highest standards for their home. This is amply evident from the decoration and maintenance of both house and garden, and in the way in which meals are chosen, prepared and served.

National Ploughing Association, The 2008 Ploughing Championships will take place at Farmley, Cuffesgrange, Co Kilkenny, on Tues Sept 23rd to Thurs Sept 25th 2008 In Sept 2007 the event took place in Annaharvey Farm, Tullamore, Co. Offaly. The event attracted over 800 exhibitors and 166,00 visitors attended over the three days. Enjoy a super day out with something for all the family.
