The Nomadic was built by Harland & Wolff, the world famous shipyard in Belfast for the White Star Line her purpose was to be a first class tender to the transatlantic passenger liners Oceanic, Titanic and

When her keel was laid she was assigned the yard number 422, when launched on 25th April 1911 her gross weight was 1,273 tons and had an overall length of 220 feet. Nomadic successfully underwent sea trials and was officially taken over by White Star on the 27th May, 1911.
