Plague of Locusts.

AD 897

 

 

 

 

"That in the year 897 it was destroyed by strange worms, having two teeth which consumed all that was green in the land.

"That these devourers left neither corn nor grass, nor food for man or beast, but consumed all that was green in the land. " So that of consequence a miserable famine ensued.

It is thought this visitation was a plague of locusts.
