Ardtarmon House. |
||||
You are welcome to Ardtarmon House, set among mature grounds in a quiet location in beautiful rural and coastal surroundings in the Yeats country, County Sligo. We offer you comfortable and relaxing accommodation, both bed and breakfast and self catering cottages, in unique surroundings. The name “Ardtarmon” comes from the Irish language “ard” meaning “high” and “termon” meaning “sanctuary“ or “Church lands”. There are other termons in Ireland but this is the only one with this prefix. Ardtarmon is located on the north shore of Sligo Bay, 19 km northwest of Sligo with panoramic views of mountains and sea up to 60 miles distance. The house and farm have been in the family for five generations since 1852 with the house being expanded over the years since the 1890s. The grounds around the house encompass about four hectare with much woodland enclosing different lawns and areas giving a number of different aspects and many varied walks. It is a haven for wildlife.
