Sligo Friary.
 

Maurice FitzGerald, second baron of Offaly founded this Dominican Friary in 1258. The choir with its eight lancet windows and the sacristy and chapter house are original.

The building suffered a disastrous fire in 1414 the east window of the choir, the carved alter, most of the nave and the screen separating the choir from the nave date from this period.

The friary was attacked and destroyed by Cromwell's troops in 1641, most of the friars are said to have been shot or burnt.

Inside the church are many interesting sixteenth and seventeenth century tombs.
