(St Coman's wood.) This Dominican Friary was founded in 1253 by Felim O'Connor, king of Connaught. There is an effigy of the founder in the north wall, this dates from the late thirteenth century, it was destroyed by fire in 1308. It was rebuilt in the late 15th century, much of what is seen today dates from that period.
