Morisco
had a manor at Ardare in the 13th century. The present castle was built
on the site in 1831 to the design of the 2nd Earl of Dunravin (1782-1850)
The Dunravin's are descended from Thady Quin who leased the castle and
lands from the Earl of Kildare in 1683.
