An Daingean (Fortress of O'Cush) Dingle is located on the southwest corner of Ireland on a peninsula which bears its name, it is one of the most westerly points in Ireland. I The town is ideally located to explore the which is justifiable noted for its scenic beauty and prehistoric remains. The large natural harbour, is used by the local fishing fleet, and many local and visiting pleasure craft. Dingle was the main port of Kerry in the 14th and 15th centuries. Later, smugglers brought prosperity to the town, which began to mint its own currency. The town hosts an annual cultural festival.
