Devenish Island.

One of the most interesting islands is Devenish, there are the remains of some very interesting buildings on the island. In the Middle Ages there was a chain of island monasteries in Lough Erne.

In the Caldragh Cemetery cemetery at the west end of the Island there are two ancient stone Janus (looking both ways. Also may be from the Roman god Janus 'Keeper of the gate' from which we get January) idols, their origin is not known they have been likened to the statues on Easter island in the Pacific, it is thought they date from the first century.

Lusty Beg.
(Little Fertile Island)
The privately owned seventy acre island has five star chalet accommodation for about 159, most have three bedrooms and two bathrooms, a kitchen and a sitting dining room The chalets are Scandinavian in style, most are situated on the lake shore. There is a ferry which runs on demand from 8 am until midnight, the journey takes only a few minutes.

White Island.
One of the few examples of a Sheela na Gig on public display is to be seen on White Island on lower Lough Erne, the other is at Bunratty Castle county Clare, there are several in the National Museum Dublin.
