Slievenagriddle
Megalithic Tomb. |

'Sliab na Greillean' Slievenagriddle is situated on a hilltop near Downpatrick, the site has commanding views of the surrounding countryside, the Isle of Mann and Cumbria, it overlooks Lough Money from which water is extracted and a good day's fishing is to be had. On a nearby hill 'Slieve Patrick' stands the granite statue of Saint Patrick erected in 1932 All that is seen today of the hilltop tomb is the large capstone, in the Archaeological Survey of 1966 it was suggested that it is a collapsed portal tomb, although this conclusion is disputed by some. |
