Saintfield Show was first held in 1945 and continues to attract the best exhibitors from across Home Industries, Poultry, Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Clydesdales, Horses, Ponies, Carriage Driving, Donkeys, Miniature Horses, Show Jumping and RDS Equitation Jumping League.

The National Country sports Fair.
 

The 16th National Country sports Fair will be staged at Moira Demesne on the Bank Holiday Weekend of 28 & 29 May 2011. This two-day show, held annually in rural Northern Ireland, is sponsored by Lisburn City Council.

It is now widely recognised by Ireland's country sports community as the showcase event for Irish country sports and rural living. The 2010 event was widely acclaimed for the quality of its stands, the displays and demonstrations and the visitor numbers to the event.

The village of Moira is a picturesque and a convenient venue for this "one of a kind" event in rural Northern Ireland . Situated just 1/2 mile from the M1, Northern Ireland's main motorway, and within easy driving distance from the major Irish ports and airports, the mature parkland of Moira Demesne is the perfect setting for Northern Ireland's top country sports weekend.

The National Country sports Fair runs from 10:00 until 18:00 each day. Entry is £10 for adults with children under 15 admitted free when accompanied by an adult.

To celebrate the 2010 Ards Puppet Festival the Sunburst Gallery will be displaying a fascinating selection of handmade puppets featuring a special guest appearance by the one and only Sooty with his pals Sweep and Sue. These original hand-puppets
were featured on BBC2 from 1952 and are the creation of puppet legend Harry Corbett. Alongside these Ards Arts will be
displaying a variety of intriguing characters from Norwich Puppet Theatre; Banyan and Clyde built Theatre Companies; leading

Champion of Champions Cycle Race

Portaferry Road, Newtownards Promoted by Ards Cycling Club, the Champion of Champions is a 25 mile Time Trial event taking place on the PortaferryRoad (A20). It starts close to the Old Shore Road and passes through Greyabbey, Kircubbin as far as the Saltwater Brig, taking a U-turn at the 12.5 mile distance, returning the same route. As part of Ards Craft’s Meet the Maker series, Shauna McGowan, a local Textile Artist from Newtownards, will be showcasing and selling her work in the Craft and Design Centre. With a background in fashion and textile design, screen printing creates the foundation for much of her work, using alternative surfaces such as plastic and leather to create striking pop art inspired imagery and textiles. Demonstrations may involve the use of machinery and necessary health and safety restrictions will therefore be in place.

environment, are brought together in this creative photographic collection which truly captures this very special part of Northern
Ireland. A years labour of love on the part of photographer Bernie Brown has gone into recording the spectacular beauty of this
rural landscape and its people who bring it to life and give it form. Bernie became a full time professional
press photographer in 1999 and now specializes in documentary, landscape and wildlife themes.

years, the local newspaper has published some of the photographs in its ‘Portraits in Time’ features, drawing a huge response
from readers. Many of the evocative scenes will be reproduced in the exhibition as well as never before seen photographs. It

‘Art Education into Practice’

Sunburst Gallery, Ards Arts Centre Opening Night Thursday 3 June 7-9pm This exhibition presents the work of students taking part in Seacourt Print Workshop’s innovative professional practice programme. Students from Bangor, Downpatrick and Lisburn have participated this year, working alongside professional printmakers. Techniques included etching aluminium plates using salt mordents - a technique recently introduced at Seacourt through ongoing research to devise printmaking techniques that are safer for both the artist and the environment.
