The
original turbine was an American Lefell,
this company was formed in 1862 and are still in operation, (October 2011)
the turbine was examined at the outset and found to have suffered excessively
wear and corrosion, it was decided to use it as a template and make an
exact working replica.
The turbine case is made from cast iron, this was in good
conditionand needed no work

Ligna Vitae is a African hard wood used extensively
in the past for bearings, where the equipment was submerged in water
as in turbines, and ship propeller shafts. |
